Many of the gift certificates I have sold in the past have an expiration date of June 30, 2009. I encourage you to use them up this month. I will still honor them after that date but they may be subject to a $10.00 fee to cover space rental, linens and supplies. Call me if you have questions on this policy. The $10.00 fee would apply for outcall or massages at Salone Sienne or the Summit Athletic Club.

FRICTION VERSUS FUNCTION Many of the advanced techniques of massage can literally correct posture, injury disfunction, increase movement and greatly reduce pain on a permanent basis. There is a cost involved in this of commitment to a treatment plan, some temporary physical discomfort, and anopeness to alternative ways of dealing with your health goals and a willingness to make lifestyle changes. Having been trained in some of these techniques, I often find myself walking the fine line between giving the client what they want (temporary pain relief, relaxation etc) and pushing them to making changes that they would most assuredly benefit from but may not be ready to undertake. In this, I know I have lost a client or two that weren't ready to reverseinbalance to their structure and lost them to a therapist who would not nag them and just give them a relaxing rub.
As you know, I am involved with the Nevada School of Massage Therapy, assisting in the training of new massage students. This gives me a great opportunity to increase my skills and knowledge, and it also gives me a chance to reflect on my experiences of the past few years andanalize what I have done right or could have improved on. I like to think of myself as a growing developing therapist who learns from each experience. I have known therapists who have been practice many years, who are NOT Nationally Certified (they got their license before certification was required and were grandfathered in) so they are not required to take continuing education as we who are certified are. Unfortunately, these therapists have done nothing to increase their skills and in many cases forgot even some of the basics of anatomy. What they do have is years of rubbing people but have not invested in new techniques and skills. There have been great changes in the industry and what was common practice 10 or 15 years ago is no longer cutting edge or maybe in some cases best for client safety. New knowledge has been developed in handling people withFibromyalga, heart disease, injury rehabilitation , and senior care just to name a few. So there is a big difference in the quality of the massage care out there. Make sure that the therapist you see is either nationally certified or at least avails themselves of the hundreds of classes and seminars designed to improve body work.
Knowing this, I don't want to lose another client to someone who cares less about your health. I want you back. I want you to feel great. I want to know what continuing education classes you would like me to get involved with. So know that I am learning to walk that fine line. I promise not to nag (too much) and know that Iam here to help you with your long term goals when you are ready.
